Why does talking about God offend people?

I mean I'm a Christian and I just can't believe what people are saying on here to one another. It makes my stomach curl. I know there are bible thumpers on here and even I find them annoying, but I find more atheists judgmental and criticizing religions that believe in God. And no no one is going to compromise my beliefs.
