Is Renville Village in Oranmore, Galway IE to remote for family w/school age kids?

Often surprised by the listings quality/letting prices, I wonder--Is Ren.Vlg.mainly retired people who golf or sail? I have 2 children 14yr daughter & 6 yr son that will want to play outside, go into schools in Oranmore, get around to Galway for events. Is this a practical place to live w/family? or is in Oranmore more sensible. Also, does it flood in Renville badly? Oranmore/flood? I will be moving to Oranmore/Galway at the start of June from Texas. Don't want to get the first letting wrong and kick myself for a year through a lease.
