Why does electrons flow in the wire?

I mean when 2 charges get close to each other they begin to atract each other with electric force,but if we draw them far from each other there will be no force between them,than whats happening when too far oposite charges are conected with wire,there must be an electric force between them to create a flow,what does the wire do,how does the wire help this 2 oposite charges to sence each other when there being too far?can someone help me to clarify this?
