Why do people hate religion (specifically Christians) so much?

Maybe because Christianity has been a "bad" thing in the past. Oh - and - let's face it, fundies and their political lobbying is the reason this country is so behind Europe on social issues. I could care less what your Bible says - I just want Christians out of government and no more informal state Christianity.
