Eating Your Pet Rabbit?

Now, I know people commonly eat Rabbit. Is it really so strange to eat a rabbit you've kept as a pet for the past seven years? I really dislike my rabbit, he was cool to begin with, but now all he ever does is sleep and poop. He's boring, and I'm just wondering if it's a little cruel to leave him lying around past his life expectancy. The doctor says he has a bunny tumor, so its only a matter of time now.
